Tennova Healthcare and UT Medical Announce Coordinated Cancer Care Program in East Tennessee
10/14/2026
Tennova Healthcare, one of East Tennessee’s most trusted hospital systems, and UT Medical, the region’s provider of academic cancer care, today announced an agreement that will expand access to coordinated cancer services in East Tennessee. Through this collaboration, UT Medical Cancer Institute medical oncologists will see patients at Tennova facilities in Powell and Farragut, connecting more patients with multidisciplinary knowledge, advanced diagnostic capabilities and treatment planning closer to home.
New cancer clinics at Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center in Powell and Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center in Farragut will offer care from UT Medical oncologists beginning in December 2026. Along with Tennova’s radiation oncologists, the clinics will provide cancer care, helping patients move more easily from diagnosis to the care they need.
“The blending of Tennova’s continued focus on community care with UT Medical’s academic medicine experience gives our patients access to an integrated model that can provide seamless delivery for cancer care,” said Tony Benton, Tennova Healthcare CEO. “Our collaboration presents a sturdy and strong foundation for future growth, cancer care innovation and most importantly, improved outcomes for East Tennessee residents receiving a cancer diagnosis.”
“As the region's academic health system, UT Medical has a responsibility to make that care available to more people in more communities,” said Dr. Keith Gray, president and CEO of UT Medical. “By having our medical oncologists see patients at Tennova's North Knoxville and Turkey Creek campuses, we can meet patients closer to home while connecting them to the wide range of specialists and services at the UT Medical Cancer Institute when needed. For patients, this means a clearer path from diagnosis to a treatment plan built around their specific cancer and circumstances.”
Tennova North Knoxville CEO Bill Rich said the new initiative will be centered on a more seamless and patient-friendly process for patients to receive the care they need.
“The journey from cancer diagnosis to treatment and recovery can be a very difficult time for those we care for each and every day,” Rich said. “The collaboration greatly enhances our patient’s ability to access coordinated care pathways and easily navigate across many different cancer specialists and sub-specialists in a single location. We want our patients to be close to home, close to family and backed by proven academic medicine experience.”
The cancer care collaboration builds on Tennova and UT Medical’s established work together at Knoxville Rehabilitation Hospital and the Center for Behavioral Medicine – Knoxville.
