Neurosurgeon Steven B. Housley, M.D., M.S., has joined Tennova Medical Group, offering clinical knowledge and treatment options for those experiencing complex brain and intracranial disease, as well as complex spinal surgery addressing instability, deformity or structural damage that can occur over time. A talented surgeon with deep ties to the Knoxville community, Housley is thrilled to have the opportunity to practice medicine where his family calls home.
Above all, Housley said his care philosophy is centered on offering specialized, neurosurgical care in an atmosphere where patients feel both heard, supported and guided through each step of the way from diagnosis to care plan. He said patients should not get used to living with painful conditions that can make everyday activities difficult. His constant focus is returning his patients to fulfilling, pain-free lives.
“I am always committed to meeting my patients where they are, listening carefully and educating them about the many options available,” Housley said. “I pride myself on providing thoughtful, individualized care to each of my patients so they feel supported throughout every decision.”
A proud Tennessee Volunteer, he completed his undergraduate education in anthropology in Knoxville before earning a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgery residency at University at Buffalo Neurosurgery and is actively involved in medical education and research, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.
A consistent and life-long learner, Housley is an active member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and remains committed to advancing patient care through ongoing professional development.
Housley will practice at Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center with a concentration on cerebrovascular and complex spine surgeries, further strengthening Tennova Healthcare’s commitment to advanced surgical care. Tennova Healthcare CEO Tony Benton said Housley’s addition is a significant milestone.
